Homeland Security/Counterterrorism Unit

OVERVIEW

Homeland Security/Counter-Terrorism investigators police suspected terrorist acts and terrorism-related offenses. The Prosecutors Office, by order of the Governor, is the hub and controller of counter-terrorism information and coordination for the county's police departments. This unit prepares for possible terrorist attacks by developing intelligence and working with the County Office of Emergency Management.

The unit assists the United States Attorney's Offices in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and the state Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness. Unit investigators routinely meet with federal and state officials in Pennsylvania and New Jersey to receive information about suspected terrorism activity and share intelligence.

The unit, through the Critical Infrastructure Coordinator, assesses the vulnerability and security of sites in the county identified as critical infrastructure by the state or county.
